Goodbye Prof London

I was informed that Prof London is going to leaving us for good for HK city university. "it was an offer could not resist." He told me on the phone.

I attended farewell party organised by year three sociology students, wow, it was like another lecture session.

The difference was: Prof London had to answer all the questions the students gave, plus some heavy reading "孙子兵法".

I came to know Prof London very briefly when I attended the interview for my application for Ph.D of sociology. He was in charge of graduate student programme, and I was given a chance to be treated as "special case" to allow to admit in considering I don't have sociology background. He encouraged me to go forward without fear as he was also "without such background". He mentioned that NTU has a very good team of faculty on sociology, it is "small and beautiful". He told me to be patient and built groundworks first. I do appreciate it now.

I haven't had chance to attend any of his lecture, but from what I saw and heard from his students, he is a tough teacher, can be very mean too. Nevertheless, he is well loved by his students and it is pity to see him leaving.

"Life is an iron cage, none of us can escape" Quote from Prof London

All the best wishes for you in HongKong
